Michael Jackson Drug Addiction Enabled by Fame

Jackson surrounded by enabling doctors

Michael Jackson’s sudden death yesterday shocked the world, but many in his close circle of friends feared this day would come. Some of those close to him saw the signs of drug abuse and tried to alert the others around him.
Deepak Chopra, who had known Michael for twenty years published a loving tribute to the mis-understood pop star in the Huffington post. He wrote:
It's not my place to comment on the troubles Michael fell heir to from the past and then amplified by his misguided choices in life. He was surrounded by enablers, including a shameful plethora of M.D.s in Los Angeles and elsewhere who supplied him with prescription drugs. As many times as he would candidly confess that he had a problem, the conversation always ended with a deflection and denial. As I write this paragraph, the reports of drug abuse are spreading across the cable news channels. The instant I heard of his death this afternoon, I had a sinking feeling that prescription drugs would play a key part.”
Others close to Jackson such as his attorney Brian Oxman were aware of his drug abuse. Oxman said in numerous interviews that he was aware of the problem and had warned family members that this might happen. Oxman said he would name those responsible if Michael’s death turns out to be drug related.

It seems that Jackson was surrounded by an army of physicians willing to prescribe him drugs. F riend Tarak Ben Ammar also called Jackson a hypochondriac. “'One never really knew if he was sick, because he had become surrounded by charlatan doctors who were billing him thousands of dollars' worth of drugs and vitamins.

Michael Jackson has left a mark on the work; his music will always be remembered by everyone. His death may help bring awareness to the truth about drug addiction. It is easy to blame others for Michaels drug addiction, but in truth Michael was a drug addict whose privilege allowed him access to many prescription drugs.

Drug addiction is growing across the country; prescription drug abuse and especially the abuse of pain killers are claiming thousands of lives. Michaels death should be a wakeup call to the serious threat posed by drug addiction.
